Right here. All new in-person clients begin with our New Client Series — three private sessions where we assess your current strength, mobility, and flexibility, introduce you to the Stott Reformer, and build a foundation that's specific to your body. Sessions are conducted by Rebecca or Jennifer, both certified Stott Pilates instructors. By the end of three sessions, we'll decide together whether small group classes are the right next step. There's no pressure, no judgment, and no expectation that you already know what you're doing. That's our job.
Not necessarily. If you have prior reformer experience — whether from a studio, boutique gym, or training elsewhere — we'll evaluate you in your first session and assess whether group classes are appropriate right away. Every studio teaches a little differently, and we want to make sure you're comfortable on our equipment and familiar with how we cue and correct. In many cases, experienced clients can move directly into group classes after one session.
Almost certainly not. Pilates — especially the Stott method — is one of the most adaptable movement modalities available. It was originally developed for rehabilitation and is designed to meet people where they are, regardless of age, fitness level, injury history, or physical limitation. If you've been told Pilates isn't for you, we'd love the chance to show you otherwise. Come in, tell us your history, and let's figure out what's actually possible together.
Because you deserve a better introduction than trying to keep up in a room full of people who already know what they're doing. The reformer has a learning curve — the spring tension, the footbar positions, the vocabulary — and a group class moves at a pace that assumes a baseline of familiarity. The New Client Series exists so that when you do walk into a group class, you feel confident, not confused. It also means your instructor can give everyone proper attention during class rather than stopping to explain fundamentals. It's a better experience for you, and for the group.
Pilates is one of the most frequently recommended modalities for rehabilitation and injury recovery — it's low-impact, highly adaptable, and deeply focused on alignment and controlled movement. That said, every body is different. Please let us know about any injuries or health concerns before your first session. Rebecca or Jennifer will work with you — and your healthcare provider if needed — to make sure your program is appropriate and safe.
Studio PWR is located inside Mid-Cape Athletic Club on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. You do not need to be a member of Mid-Cape Athletic Club to take classes at Studio PWR — we are a separate studio with our own scheduling and pricing. For our exact address and directions, visit the Contact page on our website. We also offer live online classes for clients who can't make it to the studio in person.
